Mukishoes Gaia

Mukishoes took their sustainability efforts a step further when creating their special model Gaia. The result is a very breathable, lightweight and comfortable shoe, that’s lovely to wear.

Material and Sole

• Upper: organic cotton (50%) and Tencel (50%)
• Lining: organic cotton
• Embroidered eyelets and logo
• Sole: 3,5 mm made of certified natural rubber

The upper is made of 50% organic cotton and 50% Tencel. The fabric is undyed and has a unique rosy-beige colour. It’s soft, breathable and feels amazing to wear.

The lining is also made of undyed organic cotton. It feels perfect for warm days, even when worn without socks.

The eyelets and the logo are embroidered, which gives the shoes a special and more natural appearance.

The sole is made of certified natural rubber and it’s only 3,5 mm thick. It’s very flexible and offers an excellent ground feel. It feels even more minimal than the soles on the previous Muki’s models.

Fit

The Gaia works best for feet with about medium width. It should work well for narrower feet too, but I wouldn’t recommend it to those with wide feet.

These sneakers are not so voluminous as most others from Muki, or maybe they just feel more snug because they seems to be a bit shorter than usual. I think they are most suitable for about medium volume, and those with low volume can always add insoles.

They seem quite loose around the ankles, but they can be tightened well with laces.

I picked my usual size 42 with a measured inner length of 27,2 cm (my foot is 26,3 cm long and 10 cm wide; medium-to-wide; low-to-medium volume). I like the size and since they feel more snug, I can wear them without insoles, which I usually need for the other Mukis.

Mukishoes did an excellent job with their Gaia sneakers. I love them! It’s definitely my favourite find of the season.

They are probably my softest and comfiest shoes, and there’s something special about the fabric – it feels very pleasant to the touch and it’s the main reason why it’s so lovely to wear the Gaia sneakers.

I also enjoy the minimal feel of the rubber sole. I didn’t understand what’s different about it until I got the shoes (in the photos it looks the same as the previous soles), but it’s noticeably more flexible.

The colour of the undyed cotton is very pretty and versatile too. It pulls more pink or more beige, depending on the lighting.
